2022 Wrap-up and a Promising 2023

I started writing fiction on a whim in April 2021. My goal was to improve my narrative non-fiction writing skills. I had no intent to publish the novel at that time. But I fell in love with plotting crime thrillers and kept at it. It took a lot of effort and I made mistakes along the way, but resulted in FALSE TRUST, Book 1 in the Blake Willis Thriller Series, being published in August. And here we are with a 2022 wrap-up and a promising start to 2023.

Our Overseas Trip

August also saw my wife and I getting COVID during FALSE TRUST launch week. Not good timing! We recovered enough to travel to the US for two months. During the time overseas, we had four book signing events which were great fun. A planned book signing for Singapore on our return had to be postponed because a few of the registrants got COVID the week of the event.

We also had bronchitis and spent November recovering. Still, we are also planning a research trip for book four in the series to Cambodia in early 2023.

Full-time Writing Focus

The big news is that I gave up my part-time non-fiction corporate writing job in November. It was too much of a distraction from my novel writing. We decided early on to go the indie route, even though it is much tougher and a longer path to being successful. But it also provides the most control.

I had a huge November, taking part in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), writing 52,732 words and completing a draft of FALSE START, book two in the Blake Willis thriller series. And I am now having great fun plotting book three, FALSE HOPE, which I think will be the best one yet! And the completed cover design is awesome! I hope you like it as much as we do when we make it public in January!

We plan to publish FALSE START in February or March and FALSE HOPE in May or June. I believe the most important thing I can do to keep readers happy is to write more and publish more quickly. Keep track of all events and future release dates on my website.

Now that I have full-time to write and work on our author business, I will post more regular updates and insights in 2023.
